This year in Science, students will be challenged to investigate these concepts through self-generated labs, discussions and hands-on experiences. Students will practice the real processes of scientific research in the laboratory. Critical thinking skills are developed through individual and group problem solving activities. Enrichment is offered continuously through open-ended questions and self selected projects and activities. A variety of methods are used to evaluate a student’s progress in science. Science provides an exciting forum where students are challenged to develop their own answers to the How and Why of natural phenomena in their world. Please encourage your child to be an intellectual risk-taker and accept the challenge.
Grading Policy
Students will be evaluated using a point system (Points Earned/ Total Possible Points). The approximate break down is described below.

Homework Policy
Completing homework daily is very important to your child’s success in science. Most assignments require you to expand on what you have learned that day in class or to complete a lab investigation. Your child should not be spending more than 20 minutes on a nightly assignment. Periodically long term assignments are assigned and may require more that the 20 minutes if time is not managed effectively.
Handing Homework In Late
Points will be deducted from assignments daily. After a number of days students will not be able to turn in the assignment.
Absent From School
The students should also arrange a time with Mrs. Hickok-Insogna to make up work that was missed.
